In Conversation with Ballerina, Alison Carroll
- Audrey Sze
We chatted with muse and ballerina-beauty on wellness and her journey from dancing professionally to founding cult-studio Ballet Body SG.
"We started BalletBody with the intention of bringing a Ballet workout to everyone in a non-intimidating setting fit for people from no dance background to seasoned dancers." -Alison Carroll, founder of Ballet Body SG
On her wellness rituals
I always make it a point to make time for myself. I enjoy being alone a lot so me-time is a way of keeping in check with my overall well being.
On her current inspiration
I'm always inspired by anything minimalistic. Neutrals and monochrome. I love clean lines and no clutter!
On starting BalletBody SG
Starting BalletBody has been an amazing journey so far. Having come out of being a full-time professional Ballet dancer for almost 8 years and spending over 20 years devoting my life to just Ballet, starting my own business, and going into the fitness industry has definitely been a huge learning curve for me. We started BalletBody with the intention of bringing a Ballet workout to everyone in a non-intimidating setting fit for people from no dance background to seasoned dancers. With the current COVID-19 situation, we've had to shift our entire business online within a matter of days! It's a stressful period for everyone, but I'm glad we have a strong community behind us training like dancers with us online and supporting us every step of the way.
What a perfect Sunday looks like
A rainy Sunday, hot cup of tea, sofa, blankets, Netflix, and cuddles with my puppy!
On her plans for the future
I hope to continue to share my love for Ballet with everyone!
Never go to bed with makeup on, drink lots of water, moisturise moisturize moisturise and don't skip sunscreen!
Her most treasured possession
I think it'll have to be the last pair of pointe shoes I wore on stage for my last performance as a full-time professional ballerina back in 2016.
Words she lives by
To take things one step at a time.
Editor's Note: If you're ever in Singapore, we truly recommend stopping by this beautiful studio. A fun (and sweaty) way to get a beautiful workout and channel your inner ballerina.
